Connected!

Woo Hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have access to the outside world! CableCom got their acts together and finally installed our phone and internet yesterday, and Jason just hooked up our Vonage, so I can talk to the USA again!

YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Places we've visited

Cool Things I've Discovered in or about Switzerland and Germany

Speed limit free Autobahns
An even better Mexican restaurant in Mainz!
A REAL Mexican restaurant in Lausanne! Poco Loco...yummy!!!
Running/walking trails all through the woods that are snowplowed in winter!
There are at least 4 ski areas within an hour of our apartment
Gluhwein!
Outdoor movies on the lake
All you can eat (practically) paella in the Niederdorf
The Zurichsee coast is a big party, like the boardwalk in Atlantic City or Santa Monica pier
People from all over the world live here-it's so diverse! (Even if the Swiss themselves tend to be xenophobes!)
Christmas Markets
Play areas at restaurants
Doctors give medicines in the offices, no pharmacy trips!
Kinder Paradies at Malls
The water in Lake Zurich is perfectly clear
I can't do Gymboree in America, but they have one in Zurich!
Living in Zurich is like living in the mountains and at the beach at the same time
I can't survive without my GPS system in the car!
You can drive 25 different ways to get to one place
The Swiss eat more chocolate than any other nationality
Parking structures have women only levels that are monitored
The temperature can drop 30 degrees in 30 minutes
The public transportation system is efficient and clean

Things that Bug Me About Switzerland and Germany

Tiny streets that are not made for 2 way traffic!
lack of Mexican restaurants
Crossborders-our useless relo company
Giant Spiders that think this is their apartment!
Mold in my storage unit!
ROAD CONSTRUCTION!!!
Light beer barely exists here!
Teeny Tiny Parking Places
The Swiss have no concept of waiting nicely in lines
Having to pay to throw out trash
Calcium in the water that stains my sinks and showers
Traffic Cameras that take your picture then send you a speeding ticket-even if you're only 1km over!!!
Windows w/o screens so bugs can come in
Paying $22/hr for a babysitter
Flooding bomb shelters
How long it takes to get phone/internet/cable hooked up!
Stores that close at 6:30pm
Having to recycle EVERYTHING
Small refrigerators, freezers, and ovens
One way, winding roads
