My kids are trying to get rid of me!

When we first moved here, Aidan kept asking who'd watch him and Lainey when I went to work. So, I explained that I wouldn't be working anymore. That was weird to him. He told me many times that I should find a job. I wasn't quite sure why he wanted me to work, was he worried we wouldn't have enough money or what? I figured he was just jealous that I'd be spending all day with Lainey while he was at school and he didn't like her having me to herself. I still don't know why, but he doesn't comment on it anymore.

But then tonight, as I'm putting Lainey to bed, she says the sweetest thing. She takes my face in her hands and says "you're my best friend, Mommy". Of course, I'm melting. Then, in her next breath, she says "you should go to work so the big girls upstairs can baby-sit me". Gee, thanks.

Maybe we're just not used to all this togetherness! I mean, she and I have been together 24/7 for the last 6 weeks. Maybe I need to take a serious look at pre-schools for her...

I guess we all need a little time alone, or away from someone, to make us appreciate them.
